AETIS has met with the French transport regulator Autorité de Régulation des Transports (ART) to discuss current EETS developments linked to the upcoming GNSS tolling systems in Alsace and Région Grand-Est.

The exchange focused on how the French tolling landscape is evolving. France currently operates through 23 motorway concessions using a common DSRC-based framework coordinated by ASFA, with telebadge penetration reaching 94% for heavy-duty vehicles. New regional GNSS domains introduce additional technical and operational layers into this environment. AETIS presented the impact from the provider perspective.

Different regional systems require separate accreditation projects, new interfaces, OBU migrations and parallel operational processes.

The discussion also addressed implementation timelines, project costs and the increasing pressure created by overlapping European tolling projects. AETIS shared recommendations on stronger coordination between regions, more harmonised approaches to GNSS tolling and implementation conditions that remain workable for both providers and transport operators as new systems are introduced across France.
