DKV Mobility acquires majority stake in Tolltickets
DKV Mobility has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Tolltickets as part of a move to expand its European tolling business.
The company is acquiring the stake from Kapsch TrafficCom, which will retain a minority shareholding in Tolltickets. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by the end of 2026. Tolltickets, headquartered in Rosenheim, Germany, is a certified European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) provider. EETS enables road tolls in multiple European countries to be settled through a single onboard unit.
According to DKV Mobility, the acquisition will give it access to Tolltickets’ EETS platform and strengthen its position in the European toll market. Tolltickets will continue to operate as an independent company following completion of the transaction. Sebastian Klauke, CEO of DKV Mobility, said: “Our toll business is a key building block of our integrated mobility platform.
With a majority stake in Tolltickets, we are securing a strong long-term position in the European EETS market, gaining greater scope to actively shape its development, and consistently continuing our growth course.” Tolltickets was founded in 2007 and employs around 60 people. The company offers onboard units and vignettes, and provides customers with access to toll systems in 15 European countries through a single solution.
More than 100,000 vehicles are managed through its platform. Georg Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom, said: “DKV Mobility is exactly the right partner to take the company to the next level, combining Tolltickets’ technology with the scale needed to grow across Europe. We remain committed to supporting its continued success.”
In a separate announcement, Kapsch TrafficCom said the sale of a majority stake in Tolltickets is expected to have a one-time positive impact on its consolidated operating result due to deconsolidation, currently estimated at approximately €10m. The parties have not disclosed the financial terms of the transaction.
