Poland will remove vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tonnes that are towing a trailer from the e-TOLL electronic road-charging system on 21 September 2026.

The change follows amendments to the country’s Public Roads Act and means the affected drivers will no longer be required to use e-TOLL on roads covered by electronic charging.

Accounts used exclusively for journeys that will no longer be chargeable will be closed, while the corresponding vehicle information will be removed from the e-TOLL register. Prepaid users will have six months from 21 September to request repayment of unused account balances. Users who provided a cash guarantee as part of an installment-payment arrangement will also be able to request its return.

Original documents will be returned where a bank or insurance guarantee was used. Refund applications must identify the bank account into which the remaining funds should be paid. Any unused balance that has not been claimed by the six-month deadline will be transferred to Poland’s National Road Fund.
