Q-Free has been awarded a multi-year tolling infrastructure contract by Norwegian toll road operator Ferde.

The contract covers the replacement of roadside tolling systems at six tolling stations in western Norway, including selected stations in Førde and on Bømlo. Under the agreement, Q-Free will deliver, install and commission new roadside tolling equipment. The project also includes dismantling existing installations and carrying out structural upgrades to support long-term operational stability.

“Ferde looks forward to continuing the cooperation with Q-Free in the replacement of these toll stations,” said Tor Hilmar Stavang, chief technology officer at Ferde. “This is an important delivery for us, ensuring reliable and high-quality performance throughout the lifecycle.” The replacement systems will use Q-Free’s three-portal gantry architecture and will be aligned with Norway’s AutoPASS requirements.

Q-Free will act as the main contractor for the project, working with local installation partners. Installation is scheduled for later this year and is expected to be completed within a maximum of two weeks to minimise disruption to traffic and road users. Furthermore, Q-Free will own, operate, maintain and support the roadside infrastructure throughout the contract period. The contract includes performance requirements covering accuracy, reliability and operational uptime in Norway’s operating conditions.
